Biography
William T. Ryder blazed a trail as one of the Army’s earliest parachute pioneers, combining engineering acumen with daring to lend airborne forces new mobility in war. His advocacy for airborne doctrine helped shape operations from World War II through the Cold War era.
Ryder remained committed to mentoring young officers and preserving military history, and he now rests at Arlington National Cemetery among comrades-in-arms.
