Biography

William Tufts Brigham was a dedicated naturalist whose curiosity carried him from New England to the islands of the Pacific, where he gathered knowledge of plants and cultures with a respectful eye. As founding director of a major Hawaiian museum, he shared that knowledge through careful cataloging and writings that drew readers into the wonders he encountered.

He is remembered at Mount Auburn Cemetery as a scholar whose love for the natural world inspired others to keep exploring with both intelligence and sympathy.
