Aaron Anderson, born in 1811, is commemorated among the honored burials of Eden Cemetery, a sacred space for African American families in the Philadelphia area. His life spanned a period of enormous change for free African Americans, and his presence in this ground speaks to the resilience of his community.

He saw abolitionism become a defining cause and the promise of Reconstruction, returning to Eden Cemetery each year as loved ones marked his memory with gratitude for the steady courage he exemplified in day-to-day life.
