Biography

Aart van Steenbergen devoted himself to the cause of freedom, joining the resistance during the darkest days of occupation in the Netherlands. His steadfast resolve and willingness to place himself in harm's way helped preserve the hope of countless citizens under duress.

Falling in 1944, Aart is remembered at Ede Memorial Cemetery for his bravery and for the example he set—reminding future generations that courage in the face of oppression is never in vain.
