Ann Sword Dorsey

Biography

Ann Sword Dorsey was a member of the gentry whose household helped to maintain the social traditions and responsibilities expected of families in her station. She embodied the dignity and quiet stewardship for which her class was known.

Through her life she supported the charities and causes that touched the people around her, and though records of her deeds are few, her resting place at Green Mount Cemetery bears witness to a life lived with propriety and care.
