Bancroft Gherardi

Biography

Bancroft Gherardi (1832–1903) devoted his life to the United States Navy, commanding crews with steady resolve through decades of change.

He shared hard-won lessons with younger officers and helped shape naval traditions, and today he rests among fellow sailors at the United States Naval Academy Cemetery.
