Samuel W. Preston

Biography

Samuel W. Preston was a naval officer whose service to the United States Navy exemplified the dedication of military professionals during the nineteenth century. Born in 1840, he entered naval service and committed himself to the defense and interests of his nation during a turbulent period in American history.

Preston's life was cut short by his service, as he died in 1865 at the age of twenty-five. He was interred at the United States Naval Academy Cemetery, where his memory is honored alongside other naval officers who served with distinction.
