Betsey Bender Greenough

Biography

Betsey Bender Greenough (1776–1866) was a woman of the early American period whose life witnessed the founding and establishment of the United States. She came of age during the Revolutionary era and lived through the development of the young nation into a growing industrial power.

Her ninety years of life provided her with a unique perspective on the transformations of American society. She was remembered as a valued member of her family and community, and was interred at Mount Auburn Cemetery, a testament to her family's standing and respect.
