Biography

Caroline C. Fillmore (1813–1881) took on the duties of First Lady after marrying Millard Fillmore, offering steady hospitality and support during his presidency as the nation navigated the turbulent years before the Civil War.

After the White House years she returned to Buffalo, remained involved with her family’s social and charitable circles, and now rests among other dignitaries at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
