Chauncey Depew

Biography

Chauncey Depew (1834-1928), politician and railroad executive, devoted decades to public service and the expansion of transportation networks that connected communities across the nation. His eloquence and steadfast advocacy for progress were hallmarks of a life spent advancing civic and economic development.

He concluded his storied career with the same grace with which he began it, and he is memorialized at Hillside Cemetery, where his accomplishments continue to inspire those drawn to the causes he championed.
