Biography
Daniel P. Wood (1819–1891) spent his life advancing education and civic life, serving on school boards and encouraging the founding of libraries that welcomed citizens of all ages. He believed that learning was the surest path to stable communities and devoted himself to that ideal.
Wood also took great interest in preserving local history, recording reminiscences and supporting historical societies so that future generations might understand the sacrifices of their elders. His gentle insistence on civic responsibility left a legacy of informed citizenship.
