Biography
David Moniac, a member of the Creek Nation born in 1802, broke barriers as the first Native American graduate of West Point and served with honor as a military officer when the young nation called.
He was mortally wounded in 1836 while serving during the Seminole conflict, and Florida National Cemetery now marks the resting place of a brave man who opened the door wider for others to serve.
