Biography

Elizabeth Neuffer became a celebrated journalist for The Boston Globe, taking a human-rights lens to conflicts, mass atrocities, and the organizations that tried to prevent them. Born in 1956, she reported from throughout Europe and the Middle East, telling stories of dignity and resilience even amid turmoil.

Posting to Iraq in 2003, she continued to pursue truth until her life was cut short in a tragic accident, and the Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship now honors her commitment to courageous, compassionate reporting.
