Emerson Opdycke

Biography

Emerson Opdycke, born in 1830, rose to prominence as a daring military officer who served the Union cause with distinction; his leadership during the Civil War, especially amid fierce battles, was marked by steadfast courage and a commitment to the men he led.

After the conflict, he devoted himself to supporting veterans and the wider community, and he now rests in Oakwood Cemetery, honored for his valor and postwar service.
