Biography
Eugene Casserly (1820–1883) emigrated from County Tipperary to the United States, where he practiced law in California before serving his adopted state in the United States Senate from 1869 to 1873.
A thoughtful legislator, he defended the needs of coastal commerce, the transcontinental telegraph, and the rights of immigrants, returning to private life afterward to continue advocating for the principles he cherished.
