Farrand Stewart Stranahan, born in 1812, carried on the merchant traditions of his time with integrity, bringing goods and services to a nation on the move.

Though his life ended in 1845, the relationships he forged and the diligence he showed are remembered by those who visit his stone at Green-Wood.
