Franklin Buchanan

Biography

Franklin Buchanan (1800–1874) served his nation on the seas with steadfast resolve, answering his call to duty as a naval officer during pivotal moments of the 19th century. He balanced the demands of service with a deep affection for his home and the people of Wye House, carrying himself with honor in both command and conversation.

After a life spent guarding the waters he loved, he was laid to rest at Wye House Cemetery, where the calm grounds echo the disciplined yet gentle spirit of his career.
