Frederick A. Hihn

Biography

Frederick A. Hihn, born in 1829, was a pioneering businessman whose investments shaped the growth of Santa Cruz, including canals, rail lines, and enterprise that fostered community life on the California coast. He believed deeply in the promise of the region, and his vision guided the creation of parks, transportation, and opportunities for the hardworking families who settled there.

He died in 1913, but the towns and industries he helped found continue as living monuments to his industrious spirit and his commitment to welcoming newcomers into the vibrant fabric of the county.
