George A. Sheridan

George A. Sheridan (1840–1896) dedicated his career to military service, serving as an officer during the Civil War and helping to oversee the difficult transitions that followed the fighting. His steady hand in leadership roles contributed to the army’s efforts to maintain order during turbulent times.

Sheridan’s faithful stewardship of troops and stations earned him lasting admiration, and Arlington National Cemetery now honors him among the nation’s honored dead.
