George Wheeler

Biography

George Wheeler became a celebrated topographical engineer, directing exploratory surveys of the American West that mapped vast regions, advanced scientific knowledge, and aided the expansion of the nationÕs transportation and settlement efforts.

He carried that spirit of exploration back to the NationÕs Capital, and today his contributions are honored by his resting place at West Point Cemetery.
