Gideon B. Smith

Biography

Gideon B. Smith was born in 1793 and built a successful career as a businessman during the early nineteenth century. His entrepreneurial endeavors contributed to the economic development of his community during a period of American growth and expansion.

Smith died in 1867 at the age of 74 and was laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery. His long life and business career spanned from the early republic through Reconstruction, allowing him to witness and participate in the significant economic transformations that characterized nineteenth-century America.
