Biography

Gräfin Marie von Waldstein-Wartenberg was a member of the prominent Waldstein-Wartenberg noble family who lived from 1852 to 1955. She witnessed the transformation of Central Europe from the height of the Austro-Hungarian Empire through the twentieth century.

As a noblewoman of her era, Marie von Waldstein-Wartenberg maintained connections to the cultural and social traditions of the Austrian and Bohemian aristocracy. She was laid to rest in the Funeral Chapel of the Elevation of the Holy Rood in Šťáhlavy, a sacred place befitting her station and faith.
