Heman Allen

Biography

Heman Allen (1779–1852) was a military officer and politician whose service shaped the early American republic. Born in 1779, Allen dedicated his life to both military service and public office, contributing to the nation during a formative period of its history.

Allen spent much of his life in Burlington, Vermont, where he was remembered following his death in 1852. His dual roles as a military leader and statesman reflect the commitment of his generation to establishing and preserving the institutions of the young United States.
