Henry Flad

Biography

Henry Flad was a civil engineer whose mastery of masonry and bridge building contributed to the growth of St. Louis’s infrastructure in the latter half of the nineteenth century.

He played a key role in designing and supervising public works that opened the city to commerce and cultivation, and his work is memorialized near Bellefontaine Cemetery.
