Biography

Henry Hastings Sibley spent his youth in the fur trade, forging alliances with Native nations and caring for communities before entering politics as Minnesota transitioned from territory to statehood. He became the first governor, guiding the new state through delicate early years with a focus on stabilizing finances and supporting agriculture.
