James E. Shepherd

Biography

James E. Shepherd rose from humble beginnings to become Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, where he strove to bring clarity and fairness to the law.

He remained a mentor to younger lawyers and is buried at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
