John Baxter Barbour Jr., born in 1862, approached life with a clear-eyed sense of purpose, taking pride in fostering cooperation across business and civic realms as Pittsburgh consolidated its economic strength.

He was widely respected for his fairness and quiet mentorship, and in 1929 his friends laid him to rest in Allegheny Cemetery where he remains remembered.
