John Bell Hood

Biography

General John Bell Hood, born in 1831, commanded troops with ferocious courage, rising through the ranks of the Civil War-era Army and earning respect even from opponents for his willingness to share hardship.

After the conflict, he returned to Tennessee, navigating painful wounds while supporting his family and participating in efforts to rebuild his community before his passing at Metairie Cemetery.
