Biography

John Leslie Breck (1860-1899) was an influential American painter who studied in Paris and embraced Impressionist techniques as they emerged in Europe.

He returned to Boston with a keen eye, encouraging peers to see light and color anew in their native scenes, and though he died young his luminous work endures.
