John Loughlin

Biography

John Loughlin, the first bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn, guided a young Catholic community through a time of rapid growth, founding parishes and schools that addressed both spiritual and material needs.

He paid special attention to orphanages and to the education of immigrants, always advocating for the overlooked and reminding priests to serve with compassion.
