John Pool

Biography

John Pool, born in 1826, was a senator and public servant who represented North Carolina during the volatile Reconstruction years, advocating for loyal Unionists and working to restore civil order to the postwar South. His dedication to public life was marked by a belief in the promise of the republic even amid bitter partisan divides.

Pool died in 1884 and was laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery, where his measured leadership throughout turbulent times is respectfully remembered.
