Biography

John Vanderpoel was a member of a prominent Dutch-descended family with deep roots in the Hudson Valley region. His life reflected the heritage and community ties of his family throughout the early nineteenth century.

Vanderpoel's years were spent in Kinderhook, a community rich in history and tradition. He was buried at Kinderhook Cemetery, resting among his neighbors and family members in the place he called home.
