Biography

John W. Garrett, born in 1820, guided the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad through decades of expansion, forging connections across the young nation and piloting the company with steadiness through times of change.

His sense of civic duty and encouragement of charitable causes endeared him to those beyond the rails, and he now rests among the honored at Green Mount Cemetery.
