Biography

Jonathan Mayhew Wainwright I (1792–1854) was a bishop whose ecclesiastical leadership extended through the nineteenth century, serving as a spiritual guide and administrator within the Episcopal Church. His long life of sixty-two years was dedicated to the advancement of religious faith and the pastoral care of his flock during a period of significant growth in American Christianity.

He was laid to rest at Trinity Church Cemetery, a location of honor befitting his rank and service as a bishop, where his memory is preserved among other distinguished clergy and community leaders of his era.
