Biography
Julian Shchutsky was a distinguished sinologist whose scholarly work contributed significantly to the study of Chinese language, culture, and philosophy. His expertise was valued in academic circles, and he represented an important bridge between Russian and Chinese intellectual traditions.
Shchutsky fell victim to the Great Purge in 1938, executed during the campaign that decimated Soviet intellectual and academic communities. He was buried at Levashovo Memorial Cemetery, where his memory is honored among other victims of political repression.
