Biography

Lee Wallard rose through the ranks of American open-wheel racing, earning a place among the sport’s bravest by capturing the 1951 Indianapolis 500 in a daring display of skill and determination.

Though the injuries he sustained required long recoveries, his courage inspired fans nationwide, and Prospect Hill Cemetery now holds the memory of a racer whose heart never left the track.
