Biography

Leslie Waggener combined military service and legal skill, serving as an officer during the Civil War before devoting himself to Texas public life, where he promoted education, helped establish law schools, and participated in governance.

He shaped the civic culture of Austin through teaching and public service, and when he died in 1896 he was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, leaving a record of disciplined leadership.
