Biography

Lunsford L. Lomax (1835–1913) was a Virginia native and West Point graduate whose military career saw him serve as a cavalry officer during the Civil War, achieving the rank of brigadier general. Known for his intelligence and composed leadership, he later directed his energies toward peaceful pursuits, including engineering work and supporting fellow veterans.

His later years were shaped by a deep appreciation for community, and he remained a thoughtful counselor to younger acquaintances while tending to the land he cherished. His resting place at Warrenton Cemetery marks the passing of a man who strove to bridge the difficult decades he witnessed with resilience and quiet dignity.
