Biography

Magnus Israel was a member of Berlin's Jewish community during the transformative late 18th and early 19th centuries. He lived through a period when Jewish residents of Berlin were gradually gaining greater legal rights and social recognition within Prussian society.

Israel's life from 1756 to 1811 placed him among the generation that witnessed significant changes in the status and organization of the Jewish community. His burial at the Jüdischer Friedhof Berlin-Mitte indicates his participation in the established religious community of Berlin.
