Margaretta Dunlap Perit spent her life in the Yantic River valley where, from her childhood in 1808, she became a quiet source of comfort for neighbors facing hardship. She was admired for her gracious hospitality and the thoughtful ways she supported community endeavors.
Her passing in 1866 left a gentle absence in Norwich society, and she was laid to rest in Yantic Cemetery carried by the gratitude of those she uplifted.
