Biography

Matthew D. Lagan (1829–1901) spent his adult life woven into the fabric of New Orleans, guiding commercial and civic interests with a steady hand. His involvement in the city’s growth reflected a sincere belief that prosperity should be shared with neighbors in need.

He was laid to rest at Metairie Cemetery, where his quiet resolve lives on among the magnolias and marsh breezes.
