Mial Eben Lilley
1850–1915 (age 65)
Lawyer and U.S. Representative
Biography
Mial Eben Lilley trained in the law, guided county affairs, and brought his keen sense of fairness to the halls of the U.S. House when elected to represent his region's interests. In Washington he made the quiet, steady case for reliable postal service, sound roads, and the farmers and small businessmen of his district.
After his terms he returned to his legal practice and remained a familiar presence at community events, mentoring young lawyers and supporting public schools and veteran causes, and visitors to Oak Hill Cemetery still pay respects to his steady leadership.
