Biography

Mons Monssen devoted his adult life to the sea, rising through the ranks of the United States Navy while ensuring the safety of the sailors under his command.

He balanced the rigors of duty with a warm concern for the men in his charge, mentoring them through long deployments and celebrating their achievements, and he is remembered at Cypress Hills National Cemetery.
