Biography

Orlando B. Willcox, born in 1823 and a graduate of the United States Military Academy, commanded Union troops with thoughtful determination during the Civil War and later served in the Army as it transitioned to peacetime responsibilities.

He spent his later years guiding younger officers and shaping Army policy, and at his passing in 1907 he was interred at Arlington National Cemetery, where his leadership is quietly remembered.
