Biography
Peter Richard Kenrick, born in 1806 and passing in 1896, emigrated to the United States to shepherd the growing Catholic flock, becoming the first archbishop of St. Louis and later the senior prelate of the American hierarchy. He guided the faithful through decades of growth, championing education and building institutions that would serve generations.
His pastoral heart was matched by a diplomatic spirit, and he is remembered for defending the rights of immigrants while nurturing local charities; he now rests in Calvary Cemetery among the faithful he served so long.
