Biography

Prentiss Cummings, born in 1840, experienced the great trials of the mid-nineteenth century and emerged as a thoughtful presence who listened well, welcomed differing perspectives, and quietly kept the peace during uncertain times.

His calm steadfastness and devotion to civic duty sustained many through periods of transition, and he now rests amid the solemn beauty of Mount Auburn Cemetery.
