Biography
Red Cloud, the great Oglala Lakota leader, became famous for his resistance to encroachment on the northern Plains and for securing the 1868 Fort Laramie Treaty after the conflict that bore his name.
In his later years he traveled widely, advising leaders, and he worked to safeguard the traditions of his people while observing the sweeping changes around Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
