Robert L. Caruthers

Biography

Robert L. Caruthers was a distinguished attorney whose public career peaked when he served as governor of Tennessee from 1851 to 1853, working to modernize schools and state administration.

He later sat on Tennessee's highest court and helped to educate young lawyers, and his memory is honored at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
