Biography
Robert Stevenson (1772–1850) was an engineer of wide renown, designing lighthouses along Scotland's coast to protect ships from its stubborn shoals and collaborating on the improvement of harbors.
He also ensured younger engineers could learn by his side, and when he died he was laid to rest at Old Calton Burial Ground with the gratitude of mariners whose lives benefited from his work.
