S. Donald Stookey spent decades at Corning Glass Works inventing everyday technologies, most notably the glass-ceramic that became CorningWare, an innovation born from his refusal to discard an unexpected material that could withstand extreme temperature changes.

He championed science education, mentored generations of researchers, and remained committed to the idea that curiosity and kindness could drive the kind of inventions that improve daily life.
